Welcome to Östra Grevie folk high school – Svenska För Invandrare (SFI). Learn Swedish with us in a warm and familiar atmosphere.
SFI will open doors into the Swedish community, and prepare you for further education and/or work. In a relaxed and familiar environment in Malmö you will learn to talk, read, write and understand Swedish. We study together, and are attentive to your needs. At our school, we constantly aim to customize the education and learning process in accordance with your needs and goals.
We spend a lot of time working on the relationships within the group, as well as between the students and teachers. Communication, trust and tolerance are important factors for a rewarding experience when studying SFI. We want it to be fun to learn Swedish with us! At Östra Grevie folkhögskola we also offer special programmes in SFI (Swedish for immigrants) where you study for a specific job. We combine SFI with language and knowledge specific for your future job that makes you ready to continue to further education or work.

Methods
We spend a lot of time working on the relationships within the study group, as well as between students and teachers. Communication, trust and tolerance are important factors for a rewarding experience when studying SFI.
Field trips and excursions make up part of the education. In Malmö, we visit places such as the library in order for our students to get aqcuainted with institiutions and meeting places in our town and communtiy. From time to time we also make longer trips and visit attractions in Skåne, such as the national park Stenshuvud in Österlen.
If you wish extra practice in speaking Swedish we offer a language café (språkcafé Grevie) and language walks. We discuss a number of different topics in order to broaden and develop your knowledge the language.
And a bonus – there is free fika (coffee, tea and snacks) at the language café.
Tools
Digital learning and communication tools are frequent in our study program, and after having studied with us you will be experienced in working with digital tools. A lot of the education is customized to the needs of the individual student. Together with your teacher, you make an individual study plan in order to meet your goals with SFI.
National tests are done 4 times / year. Our teachers help determine when a student has sufficient Swedish skills to take the test. When you pass the test, you continue to the next SFI course level.
Google Classroom is our current platform for communication, information, home work etc. Due to the current situation, all education is carried out according to the recommendations concerning meetings and group sizes. This means that we meet in smaller groups for classroom or outdoor studies a few times a week, and that the rest of the learning is done on zoom, phone calls or individual meetings. We also offer language walks outdoors, and a digital language café.
We continuously adapt to the current situation with the corona virus.
All of our staff and teachers have undertaken supplementary training in working with digital tool, which will help our students develop their knowledge and experience in using digital tools for learning and communication. This will help prepare them to continue on to further education, and increase their chances of finding a job.

At our school you learn Swedish in a warm and familiar atmosphere. We spend a lot of time making sure that everyone feels safe and confident in the group. You work closely with your teachers and get to know each other well.
If you wish extra practice in speaking Swedish we offer a language café (Språkcafé Grevie) and language walks. We also offer homework help and mother tongue support in: Arabic, Serbian / Bosnian / Croatian, Spanish and English.
An advantage when studying SFI with us is that you will be guaranteed a place at our primary and secondary educations. When you have finished you SFI studies you can continue your education with us.

What’s next?
After having studied SFI with us, students usually continue their studies with one of our other educations, such as elementary or gymnasial studies. Other students choose to work.
